Генезис, эволюция и динамика мезомасштабных аномалий солености поверхностных вод Северно Ледовитого океана
Title: | Генезис, эволюция и динамика мезомасштабных аномалий солености поверхностных вод Северно Ледовитого океана |
Title, transliterated: | Genezis, ėvoli︠u︡t︠s︡ii︠a︡ i dinamika mezomasshtabnykh anomaliĭ solenosti poverkhnostnykh vod Severno Ledovitogo okeana / A.V. Popov, I.D. Karelin, A.V. Rubcheni︠a︡. |
Translated title: | Genesis, evolution and dynamics of mesoscale anomalies in the salinity of surface waters of the Arctic Ocean. |
Author(s): | Popov, A. V. Karelin, I. D. Rubcheni︠a︡, A. V. |
Date: | 2011. |
Language: | Russian. |
In: | Led i Sneg. (2011.), Vol. 2(114) (2011) |
Abstract: | Analyzes thermohaline data collected from North Pole (Severny Polyus) drifting stations NP-33, NP-34 and NP-36 during period 2004-2009, and ITP profilers ITP-24 and ITP-27. Datasets contain surface-layer salinity anomalies from 0.24 to 2.62 per mil. Identifies areas of freshening as mesoscale isolated parabolic subsurface lenses and estimates lifetime of phenomenon previously unreported in Arctic Ocean. Connects temporal and spatial scales of asymmetric anticyclonic gyre with salinity anomaly. Argues that special rotor structure and dynamics of lenses could affect trajectories of drifting stations. Investigates formation of looped trajectory of NP-36. Presents hypothesis in which flaw lead polynyas generate salinity anomalies in Arctic Ocean surface layers, including phenomenological scheme and 1-D model. |
