Моделирование осадки оттаивания многолетнемерзлых грунтов северного полушария в XXI веке

Title: Моделирование осадки оттаивания многолетнемерзлых грунтов северного полушария в XXI веке
Title, transliterated: Modelirovanie osadki ottaivanii︠a︡ mnogoletnemerzlykh gruntov severnogo polusharii︠a︡ v XXI veke / M.M. Arkhanov, and 3 others.
Translated title: Modelling of subsidence of perennially frozen soil due to thaw for the Northern Hemisphere during the 21st century.
Author(s): Arkhanov, M. M.
Date: 2010.
Language: Russian.
In: Kriosfera Zemli. (2010.), Vol. 14(3) (2010)
Abstract: Describes technique for assessing thaw-induced subsidence of perennially frozen soil, based on modelling of thermal and hydrological processes. Obtains quantitative estimates of mechanical changes due to subsurface permafrost degradation. With prescribed atmospheric forcing based on ECHAM5/MPI-OM general circulation model under scenario SRES A1B, modelled permafrost extent decreases from 16.6 to 7.9 million sq. km by end of 21st century. Active layer thickness may increase by 0.2-0.6 mm. Permafrost degradation is most marked in last decades of 21st century, but surface permafrost can turn to relic form even in decade 2020-2030 near to contemporary permafrost southern boundary in Northern Hemisphere. Vertical shifts of soil layers are typically several tens of centimetres and reach 0.9 m locally.
