Abstract: | Examines providers' perceptions of barriers to provision of diabetes care in remote First Nations communities in Sioux Lookout Zone (SLZ), area of sub-Arctic boreal forest in north-western Ontario. Characterises range of barriers to diabetes care and shows that patient-related factors are of primary concern for many providers. Concludes that patient-focused interventions and cultural competence training may help improve patient-provider partnerships. |
