Abstract: | Reports success of 2007-2008 International Polar Year in raising profile of Arctic human health within circumpolar national governments and in highlighting need within international cooperatives (such as Arctic Council and International Union for Circumpolar Health) for continuing action in critical areas of Arctic human health. These areas include: monitoring of infectious and non-infectious diseases, behavioural and mental health, diet and nutrition, health care delivery, health inequalities, food and water security, unintentional injuries and health impacts of climate change. |
