Abstract: | Report of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) mid-1970s study into commercial exploitation of world-wide fishery and marine mammal stocks. Study aimed to catalogue both reported interactions and identify potential areas of concern. Report presents brief summaries of distribution and feeding habits of all 114 species of marine mammals and main fisheries and concludes that one solution to conflict of interests between conservation and commercial concerns lies in technological advancement in trapping methods used by fishing industry. |
