Record #197498:

Polar politics, historical narratives, and Saami prehistory / Noel D. Broadbent.

Title: Polar politics, historical narratives, and Saami prehistory / Noel D. Broadbent.
Author(s): Broadbent, Noel D.
Date: 2010.
Publisher: New York: Palgrave Macmillan
In: Globalizing polar science : reconsidering the International Polar and Geophysical Years. (2010.),
Abstract: Discusses political context of historical narratives and Saami prehistory. Saami have lost challenges to their traditional winter reindeer grazing rights because of lack of written history and convincing archaeological evidence. New archaeological evidence on diversity of Saami culture could broaden narrative of Saami land uses and better facilitate recognition of their place in Nordic history.
