Record #197034:

Sovereignty watch: claimant states, resources, and territory in contemporary Antarctica / Klaus Dodds.

Title: Sovereignty watch: claimant states, resources, and territory in contemporary Antarctica / Klaus Dodds.
Author(s): Dodds, Klaus.
Dodds, Klaus-John.
Date: 2011.
In: Polar Record. (2011.), Vol. 47(242) (2011)
Abstract: Discusses how various activities by states with territorial claims in Antarctica which are subject to provisions of Antarctic Treaty have stressed sovereign rights of claimant while also revealing sense of anxiety regarding roles of others. Uses detailed example of Australian anti-whaling developments and extension of continental shelf rights under United Nations Law of the Sea and public commentary in media, and speculates on whether parties to Antarctic Treaty are entering unstable phase of Antarctic co-existence.
