Record #196495:

Retrospective analysis of sea surface temperature in the northern Bering and Chukchi seas / Carol Ladd, James E. Overland.

Title: Retrospective analysis of sea surface temperature in the northern Bering and Chukchi seas / Carol Ladd, James E. Overland.
Author(s): Ladd, Carol.
Overland, James E.
Date: 2010.
Publisher: New York: Nova Science
In: Changes in the Arctic : background & issues. (2010.),
Abstract: Analyzes sea surface temperature (SST) data from Chukchi and northern Bering seas from 1920s-present to investigate low-frequency variability. Finds no conclusive evidence for decadal-scale or regime-shift variability in SST in region during 20th century. Notes that warmest SSTs ever measured in eastern Bering Strait were obtained in 2004 during RUSALCA cruise, and warmest temperatures measured in western Bering Strait were observed in 2006, providing evidence that we are seeing distinct warm period in current decade relative to 20th century.
