Abstract: Using recently discovered archive of early statistical census data, sheds light on large-scale reindeer ownership in 1920s. Examines concepts of household and community and relates them to north-east Evenkiyskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug, in particular to Yakuty of Lake Essey. Analyses social dynamics of reindeer husbandry in study region. Links household structure to herd structure in attempt to provide broader ecological aspect to study.
