| Abstract: | Discusses retrospective study of contemporary structure and evolutionary history of cryolithozone of East Arctic (Laptev) shelf and coastal lowlands, based on mathematical modelling of shelf cryolithozone dynamics using geocryological, geological, and palaeogeographic data. Approach permits estimations of distribution and thickness of frozen and cooled ground in gas hydrate stability zones, and reconstruction of Middle-Late Neopleistocene and Holocene dynamics. Presents resulting map, and discusses basic advantages and shortcomings of retrospective approach, mathematical modelling, and further development of method. |
