[Development of prediction method for snow depth distribution in urban area based on coupling of snow and snowmelt models] / Yu Ito.

Title: [Development of prediction method for snow depth distribution in urban area based on coupling of snow and snowmelt models] / Yu Ito.
Translated title: Development of prediction method for snow depth distribution in urban area based on coupling of snow and snowmelt models.
Author(s): Ito, Yu.
Date: 2010.
Language: Japanese.
In: Journal of Snow Engineering of Japan. (2010.), Vol. 26(4) (2010)
Abstract: Describes development of system for predicting spatial distribution of snow depth in urban areas, using snowdrift model to predict snow drifting around buildings by solving transport equation of drifting snow density and mass balance on snow surface, and snowmelt model to predict melt rate on snow surface by solving heat energy balance equation (including multi-reflections of short-wave and long-wave radiations, sensible and latent heat fluxes, and energy consumed for melting snow). Conducts two analyses separately, assuming negligible influence of snow surface undulations on flow field, and summing derived depth changes to obtain final snow depth distributions. Uses system to predict snow depth around group of four model buildings.
