| Abstract: | Summer 2008 was one of 20 warmest on record. Winter precipitation was about average, except in north-western peninsula, where it exceeded average. Glacier variations were measured at 46 locations. Forty-one glacier termini retreated, five advanced. Includes glacier area, winter, summer and net mass balances, and ELA for three parts of Hofsjökull (Sátujökull, Thjórsárjökull and Blágnípujökull) over period 1987-2008. Net mass balances for 2007-08 were negative by 0.5-1.0 metre-equivalent. |
