Краткосрочное пространственно-временное прогнозирование сухих и мокрых лавин

Title: Краткосрочное пространственно-временное прогнозирование сухих и мокрых лавин
Title, transliterated: Kratkosrochnoe prostranstvenno-vremennoe prognozirovanie sukhikh i mokrykh lavin / I︠U︡.B. Andreev, and 4 others.
Translated title: Short-term spatial-temporal forecasting of dry and wet avalanches.
Author(s): Andreev, I︠U︡. B.
Date: 2011.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2011.), Vol. 1(113) (2011)
Abstract: Examines spatial-temporal short-term forecast/diagnosis of dry and wet snow avalanches, based on combining existing special discriminate analogue-macrophysical model of short-term background forecast with probabilistic zoning of avalanche sites. Constructs linear regressions of run-out distance zone probability and corresponding forecast function values, using field data (temperature, snow depth, precipitation) from avalanche sites "Domestic" (El'brus) and No. 22 (Khibiny) in 2000-03 and 1934-97, respectively. Correlation coefficients for both are around -0.8. Discusses statistical significance, concluding that forecast for dry and wet snow avalanche release is possible in concrete situations, using current and predicted meteorological data. Discusses method's expansion with maps of large-scale probabilistic zoning, based on mathematical and physical modelling and field data.
