Abstract: Gives history of three wooden sailing ships abandoned in Falkland Islands. Capricorn was used to carry copper ore from Chile to Swansea from 1859-81 and arrived in Falkland Islands after cargo of coal caught fire. William Shand was damaged in storms off Cape Horn in 1859, and Margaret returned to Falkland Islands after two months battling unsuccessfully to round Cape Horn in 1850.
