Abstract: Outlines objectives, intent and approach of Alaska Coastal Management Program (ACMP), and considers its application to coastal natural hazards. Concludes that ACMP provides important forum for consideration of development projects situated in natural hazard areas. Potential project impacts, and loss of life and property, can be avoided, minimised, or mitigated through efficient and effective application of state-wide standards and coastal district enforceable policies.
