Abstract: Assesses usefulness of L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) in Sea of Okhotsk with aim of developing algorithm to obtain ice thickness distribution, particularly in seasonal sea ice zone. Validates PALSAR-derived ice thickness distribution in Sea of Okhotsk, by comparing with thermodynamic ice growth amount as calculated using meterological reanalysis grid dataset. Also examines possibility of using PALSAR to estimate ice thickness in perennial ice region in Lincoln Sea (north of Greenland)
