| Abstract: | Reports research to determine optimum sea routes and estimate operation cost, transit time, and average speed for large cargo vessels navigating in high-latitude Arctic seas. Research involves collection of various ice and environmental information, e.g. sea ice distribution and wind/wave/current conditions, and calculation of 10-year mean values as basis for ice transit analysis. Data on multi-year ridge formation, fog/darkness and water depth along Northern Sea Route and Northwest Passage are also used for analysis. |
