Record #195584:
Science, cooperation and conflict in the Arctic region / Rob Huebert.
Title: | Science, cooperation and conflict in the Arctic region / Rob Huebert. |
Author(s): | Huebert, Rob. |
Date: | 2009. |
Publisher: | Farnham: Ashgate |
In: | Legacies and changes in polar sciences : historical, legal and political reflections on the International Polar Year. (2009.), |
Abstract: | Examines assumption by most scientists that science is "value-free" (including reaction of international community to discovery to scientific discovery of various types of environmental degradation in polar regions). Argues that, unlike past Arctic political efforts and treaties, climate change and its implied assumption of greater marine accessibility has not brought forward international effort to create diplomatic solution to this environmental problem. |
