Record #195565:

Molting, staging, and wintering locations of common eiders breeding in the Gyrfalcon Archipelago, Ungava Bay / Jean-Pierre L. Savard, and 4 others.

Title: Molting, staging, and wintering locations of common eiders breeding in the Gyrfalcon Archipelago, Ungava Bay / Jean-Pierre L. Savard, and 4 others.
Author(s): Savard, Jean-Pierre L.
Date: 2011.
In: Arctic. (2011.), Vol. 64(2) (2011)
Abstract: Uses stellite telemetry to demonstrate that common eiders (Somateria mollissima borealis) breeding in lower Arctic overwinter in Greenland (67%) and Canada (33%). Proportions are consistent with split established for common eiders breeding farther north. Females spend pre-moult period close to breeding islands and had smallest home ranges during moult period. Winter home ranges are larger in Canada than in Greenland, probably because they contain more ice.
