The ecology of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) in Canadian Arctic lakes / David C. Hardie, Jeffrey A. Hutchings.
Title: | The ecology of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) in Canadian Arctic lakes / David C. Hardie, Jeffrey A. Hutchings. |
Author(s): | Hardie, David C. Hutchings, Jeffrey A. |
Date: | 2011. |
In: | Arctic. (2011.), Vol. 64(2) (2011) |
Abstract: | Examines degree to which differences in limnological conditions in meromictic Arctic lakes supporting Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) affect condition and growth of cod in these lakes. Focuses on availability of allochthonous and autochthonous prey. Finds that growth rate and asymptotic length of cod tend to be high under situations of intense cannibalism and when alternative prey species are relatively abundant. |
