In: International Journal of Circumpolar Health. (2011.), Vol. 70(2) (2011)
Abstract: Investigates means by which northern Norwegian youths communicate risks of snowmobiling, using interview data and qualitative content analysis. Finds that boys and girls communicate differently about risks. Peer-group conformity appears stronger among boys than girls. Boys do not spontaneously relate risks to their snowmobile activities, whereas girls do. Perceptions of and communication about risk are related to gender, peer group and familiarity with risk-taking when snowmobiling.
