| Abstract: | Overview of German research activity in Arctic deep-sea regions. In 2000 several programmes at the Alfred-Wegener Institute (AWI) were integrated into multidisciplinary project group "AUV payload development and gradients in the deep sea", involving several ROV-supported experimental approaches. Current German research in ice-covered Arctic deep-sea environments is focused on ice-breaking research vessel Polarstern. AWI co-operates with other research institutes in Germany and beyond. |
