Record #195247:

Snow as a geographic element / Esko Kuusisto.

Title: Snow as a geographic element / Esko Kuusisto.
Author(s): Kuusisto, Esko.
Date: 2005.
Publisher: Oxford: Oxford University Press
In: Physical Geography of Fennoscandia. (2005.),
Abstract: Notes recent decrease in snow cover duration and water equivalent in southern parts of all three Fennoscandian countries, with opposite trend prevailing in north. Increased precipitation in Scandes mountains has overshadowed increases in temperature in past two decades, and snow cover has become thicker. Describes history of snow cover observation, and discusses types of areal snow variability, duration of snow cover, mean maximum snow accumulation, extreme snow conditions, avalanches, types of snowmelt flood, urban snow cover, snow cover on lakes, recent changes in Fennoscandian snow cover, and future of Fennoscandian snows.
