Record #195246:

Present-day geomorphic processes / Matti Seppälä.

Title: Present-day geomorphic processes / Matti Seppälä.
Author(s): Seppälä, Matti.
Date: 2005.
Publisher: Oxford: Oxford University Press
In: Physical Geography of Fennoscandia. (2005.),
Abstract: Divides Fennoscandia into mountainous wet region (including most of Norway), with high-energy fluvial processes, down-wasting, frost activity, avalanches, and some glacial activity, and central/eastern part (including most of Sweden and Finland), with active fluvial processes, snow, freeze-thaw, and peat formation prominent. Examines: fluvial processes, paludification, weathering, slope processes typical of cold environments (including slushflows), glacial and nivation processes (particulary those related to retreating/melting glaciers), frost-heave, littoral processes (including wind-drifting of Baltic sea ice cover inland of shoreline, and ridging of shore sediments by thermal expansion of lake ice), and Aeolian activity (including reworking of glaciofluvial deposits and influences of snow drift on glacier accumulation and permafrost distribution)
