| Abstract: | Considers Fennoscandia (totally covered by Weichselian ice sheet 15 000 years ago) classic example of glacially sculptured landscape. Presents maps, illustrations and discussion covering: glacial erosion (fjords, cleaned fracture zones, cirques, ice margins, striations, trough valleys, roches moutonnées); glacial accumulation (stratigraphy, till lineations, drumlin fields, eskers and ice marginal formations, and moraines (hummocky, end, ablation, Rogen, Veiki, Pulju, etc.)); glaciofluvial landforms (sandurs, drainage channels, kettle holes, alluvial fans); and glaciolacustrine and marine glacial sediment plains. Presents schematic cross section of geomorphic processes and landforms in Finland, and map dividing Fennoscandia into six glacial morphological regions. |
