Abstract: Historic documentary film shot in 1910-11 shows landscapes and wildlife of Scott's 1910-13 British Antarctic (Terra Nova) expedition, and tells story of heroic but tragic end to polar journey. Original footage restored to reintroduce its sophisticated use of colour. Includes 90° South, Ponting's 72-minute final sound version released in 1933; 20-minute documentary Great white silence : how did they do it? about restoration process; 13-minute documentary The sound of silence about Simon Fisher Turner's approach to musical score; 4-minute location field recording of Scott's hut at Cape Evans by Chris Watson; archive newsreel items from 1910-25; and illustrated booklet with essays, film notes and credits.
