Record #195190:

Summer 2009 thermal and bioclimatic conditions in Ebba Valley, central Spitsbergen / Ewa Bednorz, Leszek Kolendowicz.

Title: Summer 2009 thermal and bioclimatic conditions in Ebba Valley, central Spitsbergen / Ewa Bednorz, Leszek Kolendowicz.
Author(s): Bednorz, Ewa.
Kolendowicz, Leszek.
Date: 2010.
In: Polish Polar Research. (2010.), Vol. 31(4) (2010)
Abstract: Investigates thermal, anemometric and bioclimatic conditions on topoclimatic scale in summer season in Ebba Vallley region, central Spitsbergen. Analysis of spatial distribution of air temperature and wind-chill temperature, both for days with radiation and non-radiation weather, indicates that most favourable regions in interior of Spitsbergen are those situated in shielded central parts of valleys and in lower parts of slopes with southern exposure. Thermal and wind conditions are definitely less favourable at tops of elevations and on glacier. Notes large differences between air temperature and wind-chill temperature, particularly during non-radiation weather, on glacier and on open peaks.
