| Abstract: | Summarizes use of Landsat images in glacier studies and procedures for mapping glacier distribution. Presents glacier inventory for Nepal Himalaya and Karakoram ranges and compares glacier distributions. Presents glacier inventory from ground surveys in Dudh Kosi region and compares results of ground surveys and Landsat image analysis for Khumbu glacier. Discusses use of Landsat image analysis for glacier disaster monitoring, with reference to ice/moraine-dammed lakes of Nare and Imja glaciers. |
