| Abstract: | Snapshot of Asian glacier distribution and extent based on Landsat imagery from 1972-1982. Comprises seven geographic chapters and one examining paleoenvironmental record preserved in mid-latitude, high altitude mountain glaciers. Compares present glacier distribution with historical information where available, provides usable imagery catalogue, and discusses glacier dynamics in some sections. Publication delays allowed updates in several sections, based on field work and/or comparison with more modern satellite imagery. |
