Abstract: | Discusses judiciary article adopted by Alaska's Constitutional Convention in 1950s. Article prescribed method for selecting judges, and required that judges, once appointed, should stand before voters periodically for retention. It also created independent Alaska Judicial Council which performs extensive investigations and evaluations of all applicants for judicial appointments. Council also conducts studies for improvement of adminsitration of justice, making reports and recommendations to supreme court and legislature. |
