Abstract: Comprises ten essays discussing migration in circumpolar North (Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Canada and US). Each country/northern region shares certain demographic and environmental characteristics, as well as economic base dependent on natural resource production. In much of North, indigenous populations continue to practice place-specific traditional economic activities. Considers causes and consequences of migration behaviour and discusses policy issues arising from recent northern migration experience.
