Глобальная циркуляция атмосферы и сопряженность гляциологических процессов в Арктике и Антарктике

Title: Глобальная циркуляция атмосферы и сопряженность гляциологических процессов в Арктике и Антарктике
Title, transliterated: Globalʹnai︠a︡ t︠s︡irkuli︠a︡t︠s︡ii︠a︡ atmosfery i sopri︠a︡zhennostʹ gli︠a︡t︠s︡iologicheskikh prot︠s︡essov v Arktike i Antarktike / V.G. Zakharov, N.K. Kononova.
Translated title: Global atmospheric circulation and teleconnections of glaciological processes in the Arctic regions and Antarctica.
Author(s): Zakharov, V. G.
Kononova, N. K.
Date: 2010.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2010.), Vol. 2(110) (2010)
Abstract: Develops B.L. Dzerdzeyevskiy's description of global circulation based on elementary circulation mechanisms (ECMs) to reflect circulation processes in polar regions and trajectories of cyclones from low to high latitudes. Analyzes seasonal distinctions between hemispheres in global circulation processes, showing that seasonal displacements of axes of blocking processes are identical in North and South. Discusses interlinking of air temperature fluctuation in high latitudes of both hemispheres and glaciological processes and glacier regime characteristics, demonstrating correlations between, e.g.: long term air temperatures in Britain and East Antarctica; mass balance of Novaya Zemlya glaciation and snow accumulation at Dome C; annual duration of blocking processes in Northern Atlantic and drift of Weddell Sea icebergs.
