In: Journal of Northern Studies. (2007.), Vol. 1-2 (2007)
Abstract: Reports archaeological and palaeoecological studies in Arjeplog area of northern Sweden verifying arrival of hunter-gatheres soon after deglaciation. Early Mesolithic settlements dating to 8600-8000 BP have been discovered, following modelling and subsequent surveying of reconstructed shorelines of tilted water-courses. Analyses of peat stratigraphy and lake sediments corroborate completion of deglaciation more than 1,000 years earlier than has previously been postulated.
