Abstract: Recommendations following Arctic Biodiversity Workshop 2003 which concentrated on two distinct areas: first to determine interest and need for Arctic biodiversity study and, second, on need to join longitudinal and latitudinal NaGISA transects with transect crossing North Pacific / Bering Sea at Aleutian Islands. Within first area, matters of particular urgency were identified as response of Arctic biological communities to global climate change and consideration of dependency of indigenous peoples on Arctic ecosystem for subsistence economy. Major outcome concerning NaGISA transects project was joint proposal between Russian Academy of Science (both Far Eastern and Zoological branches) and University of Alaska Fairbanks.
