Abstract: | Discusses current vulnerability of minority languages in Canada. Argues that aboriginal languages are especially endangered. Non-native groups form linguistic enclaves, scattered over immense territory and encapsulated within white society. Geographical isolation no longer protects enclaves, and absence of concentrated geolinguistic strongholds is disadvantageous to liguistic survival. |
