Abstract: Presents results of application of r.sun model to calculation of total solar radiation for Wedel Jarlsberg Land, (south-west Spitsbergen) Derives Linke Turbidity Factor (LTF) with empirical formula and meteorological measurements. Presents and tests different approaches to calculating LTF. Finds r.sun model to be in good agreement with measurements for clear sky conditions, with explained variance (R²) close to 0.9. Overall, model slightly underestimates total radiation.
