Abstract: Report, from viewpoint of people of Kaktovik, on historic and present land use and associated values in general area of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. As oil activities move further into area, potential for conflict between indigenous and national and international needs intensifies although discovery of oil in Prudhoe Bay has resulted in improved facilities and standards of living.
