Пространственная изменчивость суммарного таяния ледников в бассейне Амударьи

Title: Пространственная изменчивость суммарного таяния ледников в бассейне Амударьи
Title, transliterated: Prostranstvennai︠a︡ izmenchivostʹ summarnogo tai︠a︡nii︠a︡ lednikov v basseĭne Amudarʹi / V.G. Konovalov.
Translated title: Spatial variability of total glacier melting in the Amu Darya river basin.
Author(s): Konovalov, V. G.
Date: 2010.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2010.), Vol. 1(109) (2010)
Abstract: Maps spatial variability of glacier feeding for Pamir-Alai rivers, based on total meltwater runoff statistics for 144 groups of glaciers within Vakhsh and Panj river basins in extreme low and high flow years. Also analyzes spatial variability of seasonal anomalies of annual precipitation (October-April) and mean air temperature (June-September) in extreme years. Finds that spatial distribution of total melting is most variable in years with average, rather than extreme, water yield, benefitting hydropower and agriculture by providing additional and natural ability to stabilise water reservoir balances. Calculates statistics of expected total glacier melt in low and high years as function of geographical coordinates and average firn line altitude.
