Record #193129:

A multi-dating approach applied to proglacial sediments attributed to the Most Extensive Glaciation of the Swiss Alps / Andreas Dehnert, and 6 others.

Title: A multi-dating approach applied to proglacial sediments attributed to the Most Extensive Glaciation of the Swiss Alps / Andreas Dehnert, and 6 others.
Author(s): Dehnert, Andreas.
Date: 2010.
In: Boreas. (2010.), Vol. 39(3) (2010)
Abstract: Investigates proglacial deltaic "Höhenschotter" deposits from Swiss Plateau, to examine timing of Most Extensive Glaciation (MEG) of Quaternary Switzerland. MEG advance has been previously correlated with Riss Glaciation and MIS 6 (186-127 ka), MIS 12 (474-427 ka), or even earlier stages. Re-evaluates issue, using multi-dating approach applied to "Höhenschotter" deposits in locations outside extent of Last Glacial Maximum. Presents datings from U/Th dating of carbonate precipitated in cavity within gravels, luminescence dating on quartz and feldspar separates from sand layers, and burial dating using cosmogenic nuclides ¹⁰Be and ²⁶Al extracted from quartz pebbles and matrix sand. Suggests correlation with MIS 6.
