Abstract: | Examines distribution pattern, size structure and habitat conditions of colonising Salix population in seral stage where Salix was invading Saxifraga-dominated sites, in order to elucidate pattern and mechanism of successional change. Results suggest that difficulties in seed production, germination and/or seedling establishment of Salix, rather than soil formation by preceding species (Saxifraga), limits early-stage colonisation by Salix. |
