Sea ice response to atmospheric and oceanic forcing in the Bering Sea / Jinlun Zhang, Rebecca Woodgate, Richard Moritz.

Title: Sea ice response to atmospheric and oceanic forcing in the Bering Sea / Jinlun Zhang, Rebecca Woodgate, Richard Moritz.

In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2010.), Vol. 40(8) (2010)
Abstract: Reports development of coupled sea ice-ocean model to quantify sea ice response to changes in atmospheric and oceanic forcing in Bering Sea from 1970-2008. Model captures much of observed spatiotemporal variability of sea ice and sea surface temperature and basic features of upper-ocean circulation in Bering Sea. Model result suggests that tides affect spatial redistribution of ice mass by up to 0.1 m or 15% in central-eastern Bering Sea by modifying ice motion and deformation and ocean flows.
