Record #191876:

Chemical and mechanical fluvial denudation in cold environments: comparison of denudation rates from three catchments in sub-Arctic eastern Iceland, sub-Arctic Finnish Lapland and Arctic Swedish Lapland / Achim A. Beylich.

Title: Chemical and mechanical fluvial denudation in cold environments: comparison of denudation rates from three catchments in sub-Arctic eastern Iceland, sub-Arctic Finnish Lapland and Arctic Swedish Lapland / Achim A. Beylich.
Author(s): Beylich, Achim A.
Date: 2009.
In: Jökull. (2009.), Vol. 59 (2009)
Abstract: Presents analysis of chemical and mechanical denudation rates in Hrafndalur catchment (eastern Iceland), Kidisjoki catchment (Kevo region, Finnish Lapland) and Latnjavagge catchment (Abisko Mountain area, Swedish Lapland). In steep and alpine Hrafndalur catchment denudation rates are relatively high, with mechanical denudation dominating owing to high mechanical weathering of rhyolites in area. Both Kidisjoki and Latnavagge catchments are characterised by low contemporary denudation rates where chemical denudation dominates over mechanical fluvial denudation.
