Abstract: Investigates heterotrophic eubacterial community composition in surface waters during in situ iron-enrichment experiment in western sub-Arctic Pacific in summer of 2004, using denatured gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). DGGE fingerprints representing community composition of eubacteria differed inside and outside iron-enriched patch. Sequencing of DGGE bands revealed that at least five phylotypes of α-proteobacteria occurred in almost all samples from iron-enriched patch.
