Record #191855:

Collisional Orogeny in the Scandinavian Caledonides (COSC) / David G. Gee.

Title: Collisional Orogeny in the Scandinavian Caledonides (COSC) / David G. Gee.
Author(s): Gee, David G.
Date: 2010.
In: GFF. (2010.), Vol. 132(1) (2010)
Abstract: Describes research project to investigate mid Palaeozoic Caledonide Orogen in Scandinavia, in order to improve understanding of orogenic processes, both in past and in today's active mountain belts. Lateral transport of Caledonian allochthons over distances of several hundreds of kilometers in Scandes, by combination of thrusting and ductile extrusion, is comparable to that recognised in Himalayas. Caledonides in Scandinavia provide special opportunities for understanding Himalayan-type orogeny and Himalayan Orogen itself.
Notes:

GFF. Vol. 132(1) :29-44 (2010).
