| Abstract: | Describes conservation study of bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus) undertaken on east coast of Baffin Island. Three-year programme, Igaliqtuuq Critical Bowhead Whale Habitat Stewardship Project, was initiated in 2001 and focuses on Isabella Bay (Igaliqtuuq) which is pristine late summer and autumn feeding and resting stopover for large proportion of endangered Baffin Bay/Davis Strait bowhead whale population. |
