Record #191683:
Numerical simulation of ice dynamics in channels with vanes and cross vanes / Ian Knack, Hung Tao Shen.
Title: | Numerical simulation of ice dynamics in channels with vanes and cross vanes / Ian Knack, Hung Tao Shen. |
Author(s): | Knack, Ian. Shen, Hung Tao. |
Date: | 2010. |
In: | ERDC/CRREL Contract Report. (2010.), CR-10-1 (2010) |
Abstract: | In context of river bank erosion and flood management, presents preliminary study of interaction of river restoration (RR) structures and ice, through use of two-dimensional river ice dynamics model, DynaRICE. Examines effect of ice runs of RR structures and effect of structures on ice transport, ice jamming and sediment transport. Describes model modification to simulate more effective ice-structure-sediment interactions, more accurate flow simulation, and more detailed calculation of forces on RR structures. Results examining both straight and curved channel cases indicate that layout and spacing of RR structures are important in terms of ice conveyance and ice jams. |
