Record #191651:

Late Quaternary glaciation and equilibrium line altitude variations of the McKinley River region, central Alaska Range / Jason M. Dortch, and 3 others.

Title: Late Quaternary glaciation and equilibrium line altitude variations of the McKinley River region, central Alaska Range / Jason M. Dortch, and 3 others.
Author(s): Dortch, Jason M.
Date: 2010.
In: Boreas. (2010.), Vol. 39(2) (2010)
Abstract: Examines glacial deposits and landforms formed by Mudrow and Peters glaciers in McKinley River region on northern side of Alaska Range, using geomorphic and ¹⁰Be terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide (TCN) surface exposure dating (SED) methods. Re-examines region's glacial history, identifying at least eight glacial advances, and calculates former equilibrium line altitudes (ELAs). Suggests differences in ELA depression between two glaciers reflect differences in supraglacial debris-cover, hypsometry and topographic controls on mass balance. Uses previous radiocarbon dating and lichenometry on late Holocene moraines to assess time (around 1.3 kyr) taken to reach early stabilisation after initial formation.
