Getting to the bottom of the Greenland ice sheet / Amy E. Nevala ; photography by Chris Linder.

Title: Getting to the bottom of the Greenland ice sheet / Amy E. Nevala ; photography by Chris Linder.
Author(s): Nevala, Amy E.
Linder, Chris,
Date: 2009.
In: Oceanus. (2009.), Vol. 47(2) (2009)
Abstract: Reports July 2008 field campaign on Greenland Ice Sheet investigating effect on ice flow of drainage of surface meltwater to ice sheet bed. Describes life cycle of lakes that form on ice sheet surface each summer, and possible mechanism for influencing ice flow. Reports observations of ice movement, lake levels and meteorological conditions, draining of lake through 2-mile crack that suddenly appeared in lake bed, and dye tracing experiments.
