Record #191645:

Simulated climate conditions in Europe during the Marine Isotope Stage 3 stadial / Erik Kjellström, and 6 others.

Title: Simulated climate conditions in Europe during the Marine Isotope Stage 3 stadial / Erik Kjellström, and 6 others.
Author(s): Kjellström, Erik.
Date: 2010.
In: Boreas. (2010.), Vol. 39(2) (2010)
Abstract: Simulates climate in Europe during Greenland Stadial (GS) 12 at 44 ka BP, using fully coupled atmosphere-ocean global climate model (AOGCM) and regional atmospheric climate model (RCM) for downscaling. Examines whether simulated climate is consistent with small ice sheet over Fennoscandia. Describes AOGCM and RCM, off-line use of dynamic vegetation model, forcing (small changes in insolation during GS 12 allowed model runs of 1000 years without change to orbital forcing), and palaeodata for model/data comparison. Finds simulated climate and proxy-based sea surface temperature reconstructions in broad agreement. With prescribed ice-free conditions in south-central Fennoscandia, climate is favourable for development of permafrost, but not local ice-sheets (all snow melts during summer)
