[Two-layer snow-melting agent equipped with sliding friction effect] / Hidetoshi Aoki.

Title: [Two-layer snow-melting agent equipped with sliding friction effect] / Hidetoshi Aoki.
Translated title: Two-layer snow-melting agent equipped with sliding friction effect.
Author(s): Aoki, Hidetoshi.
Date: 2010.
Language: Japanese.
In: Journal of Snow Engineering of Japan. (2010.), Vol. 26(1) (2010)
Abstract: Reports development of two-layered snow-melting agent, designed to prevent automobile slip and consisting of heat absorbing material (brick, walnut, charcoal or sand) coated with calcium chloride or sodium acetate. Aims to reduce corrosion by reducing proportion of outer layer to 20%-40% of whole. Presents test results showing that two-layered agent coated with 20% calcium chloride is more effective than calcium chloride alone, with static friction coefficients varying from 0.41 to 0.47. Two-layered agent with 20% coating has snow melting effect 1.3 times and static friction coefficient 1.5 times those of agents currently on market. Expects this to reduce corrosion damage caused by chloride ion to one-fifth and reduce overall environmental load.
